Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Review: Classic ThinkPad Practicality
Editor note: This English review is an original adaptation by Notebook Center based on the source material published at Notebook-Center.ru.
Overview
Lenovo ThinkPad E14 is a 14-inch business laptop focused on practical daily work. This configuration uses an Intel Core i5-10210U processor, 8 GB of DDR4 memory, and a 1 TB HDD. The model follows classic ThinkPad priorities: a restrained design, a comfortable keyboard with backlight, and security features like a fingerprint scanner.
In real use, the device is aimed at office tasks, browser-based work, presentations, and multimedia playback. It is not positioned for demanding graphics or modern gaming. Main trade-offs include modest display brightness and limited color coverage, while strengths include ergonomics, useful ports, and stable business-oriented behavior.

Design and Build
The chassis keeps the familiar ThinkPad style: black finish, clean lines, and TrackPoint in the keyboard center. The body uses plastic and aluminum alloy. Build quality is generally solid, with no visible panel gaps and good resistance to twisting. The laptop weighs 1.7 kg, which is manageable for regular travel between office and home.
Display and Multimedia
The 14-inch IPS panel has Full HD resolution and a matte surface that helps reduce reflections. Reported contrast is high (over 1700:1), and viewing angles are wide. At the same time, peak brightness is limited to about 250 cd/m2, and sRGB coverage is around 60%, so this panel is better for office work than for professional color-critical tasks.
Audio quality is functional for business use: clear enough for background media and calls, but without strong bass or high volume headroom. The 1 MP webcam supports 720p video and is suitable for basic conferencing.
Keyboard, Input, and Security
The keyboard is one of the strong points. Key shape, tactile feedback, and backlight support comfortable long typing sessions. The power button integrates a fingerprint scanner for faster and safer sign-in. Input options include both a touchpad and the ThinkPad TrackPoint, giving flexibility for users who prefer keyboard-centric navigation.
Performance, Ports, and Battery
With Core i5-10210U and Intel UHD Graphics 620, performance is appropriate for documents, spreadsheets, web multitasking, and light media workflows. The 8 GB RAM capacity is practical for typical office scenarios, while the 1 TB HDD gives large file space.
Port selection covers everyday business needs: USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, RJ-45, and an audio combo jack. Wireless support includes Wi-Fi 6-class connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0. The 45 Wh battery is rated in testing for around 7 hours of web use, up to about 10 hours for 1080p streaming, and roughly 90 minutes under maximum load.
Verdict
Lenovo ThinkPad E14 is a sensible business laptop for users who value keyboard comfort, practical connectivity, and reliable day-to-day productivity. The main compromises are display brightness/color limitations and moderate speaker output. For office-focused workloads, it remains a balanced and usable option.
