Design and Build

The chassis is all-metal with a matte black finish and solid construction. The hinge is firm and opens to roughly 150 degrees. The body feels rigid in daily use, and access for upgrades is mainly focused on storage with two M.2 slots.

Display and Audio

The laptop uses a matte IPS panel with Full HD resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, aimed at smoother gaming. Reported color coverage is strong for this class, while peak brightness of around 300 nits is better suited for indoor use than direct sunlight. Speakers with Dolby Atmos are clear, but bass is limited.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard has medium-size island keys with clear feedback and practical layout choices, though arrow key sizing may require adjustment. Backlighting is single-zone. The large glass touchpad is smooth and accurate, with reliable gesture support.

Performance and Gaming

For general work, the Core i7-10750H and SSD keep the system responsive. For games, the RTX 2070 Max-Q handles modern titles at high settings with playable to high frame rates in many cases. This configuration is focused on users who want strong 1080p gaming in a relatively compact form.

Ports and Battery

Connectivity is broad for a gaming notebook, including USB 3.1, USB-C, Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, and RJ-45 Ethernet, plus Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. The 65 Wh battery is reported to deliver about 6 hours in web or video playback scenarios, while gaming runtime drops to around 1.5-2 hours. Under heavy load, heat and fan noise become noticeable.

Verdict

Razer Blade 15 Base 2020 combines premium build quality and strong gaming hardware in a portable chassis. Its main strengths are design quality, fast display, and solid game performance. The key compromises are high price, modest screen brightness, and louder operation under load.
